Weighted Gel that molds perfectly to your body (beware of cheap "iron sand" imitations that can get hard and smelly with sweat).
Quality Lycra Shell built to last (plus no toxic smell).
Aussie Designed and made for real bodies.
Experience a new level of comfort and functionality with our RUKVEST, designed unlike any weighted product you've encountered before. Utilising innovative weighted gel technology, the vest incorporates a unique iron sand (granular iron) and gel compound that forms its core weight. This cutting-edge design ensures that the vest moulds to your body while providing a balanced distribution of weight. Encased in high-quality lycra, the RUKVEST not only offers durability but also allows for easy maintenance.
How heavy should I go?
We recommend that those new to rucking aim to carry between 5% (if you've been sedentary) and 10% (if you are already training) of their current body weight to start. If in doubt GO LIGHTER.
You can make a light ruck harder but you can’t make a heavy ruck easier. We would rather you kept up with the exercise than give up because it is too hard. Remember, you can always upgrade the weight once you build your strength via our trade up scheme.

What does a weighted vest do?
It adds external load to everyday movement, increasing calorie burn, muscle engagement, and cardiovascular demand without changing your routine.

11KG feature a a double strap design and a slightly larger fit.
Can I add more weight to a RUKVEST?

How do I clean my RUKVEST?
When needing to clean your RUKVEST or RUKSAK we recommend a short 5-10min soak in a tub with mild washing detergent. We use a wetsuit wash which is antibacterial.
Then hang to dry.
As your RUKVEST gear is heavier when wet you'll need to hang it on a balustrade, ladder or flat on an outdoor surface (towel on the ground in the sun). Don't hang it on the washing line :)
If it is just needing a quick wipe over then antibacterial wipes are great also.
Ensure your RUK gear is fully dry before packing away.

Is RUKVEST suitable for someone with osteopenia?
Yes. RUKVEST is recommended for bone health when combined with dynamic exercise and medical guidance. The even weight distribution and comfort design make it ideal for functional movement. Always consult your healthcare provider before starting any new exercise program.
What makes RUKVEST different from other weighted vests?
RUKVEST uses proprietary weighted gel technology where the iron sand and gel compound form the core of the vest itself - not added weights. This creates: even weight distribution front and back, natural movement and posture, maximum comfort for extended wear, and durability.
How often should I wear RUKVEST for best results?
For overall health and strength benefits, aim for 3-4 sessions per week, 20-45 minutes per session. This can be rucking, hiking, or functional fitness. Consistency with dynamic movement matters more than duration.
Can a weighted vest help me lose weight?
Yes, by raising energy expenditure during walks or workouts. Pair it with a sensible diet for fat loss.
Can RUKVEST help with bone health?
Yes - when combined with dynamic exercise. Research shows weight-bearing exercise with 10% body weight (like rucking or hiking) increases bone-building stimulus compared to unweighted activity. RUKVEST's even weight distribution makes it ideal for this type of functional exercise.
Does a weighted vest improve bone density?
Used with impact and resistance training, plus adequate protein, calcium, and vitamin D, a weight vest can help maintain bone health.
Is a weighted vest safe for my joints or back?
Yes when used properly: keep loads moderate, fit it snugly, move with good form, and avoid use during active injury.
Is RUKVEST good for perimenopause?
Yes. RUKVEST is designed for women managing bone and overall health during perimenopause. The even weight distribution promotes natural posture. For best results, combine with dynamic exercise like hiking, body weight exercises, or strength training. Start with 5-10% of your body weight.
How much weight should I carry during perimenopause if I'm new to weighted vests?
If you've been sedentary: Start with 5% of your body weight (typically 2.5-4kg for most women). If you're already exercising: Start with 10% of your body weight (typically 5-7kg). For example: A 70kg woman would start with 3.5kg-7kg depending on fitness level and current activity.
How should a weighted vest fit?
Snug but not restrictive, with even front–back load. No bouncing or shoulder pressure points.
What are the best exercises to do with a weighted vest?
Brisk walking or hiking, stair climbs, squats, lunges, step-ups, push-ups, pull-ups, and short hill sprints.
Fitness that fits into your life
In today’s fast-paced world, making time for exercise can feel overwhelming, especially for busy parents and professionals. That’s where the RUKVEST weighted vest makes a difference.
Inspired by the viral rucking trend—walking with added resistance—RUKVEST helps you transform everyday activities into powerful workouts.
From walking the dog and tackling household chores to running errands, this weighted vest adds just the right amount of resistance, allowing you to burn more calories, build strength, and boost overall fitness—without rearranging your schedule.
Eight kilos may not seem like much, until it's cradling your torso. And you'll want that to be as cosy and balanced as possible...like the Rukvest. I reviewed many weighted vests before settling on Rukvest and loved everything I learned about it. Australian-made, the history of its evolution and why, the quality of materials and design...I was a convert to the brand well before buying it. I did have questions about which one would be right for me so I emailed the team and they suggested an 8kg Rukvest. After two 10km+ hikes I can tell you this much: 1) the weight is noticeable but comfortable 2) You will burn more calories and work on your cardio endurance more than ever 3) When you take it off, you will almost float rather than walk. So, for those about to Ruk, we salute you!

My husband loves his Rukvests.
This is my husband’s Rukvest. He also has the 5kg one for when he feels like it. He walks miles everyday wearing one or the other and uses the 3kg one in the gym when rowing for 40 minutes and then doing uphill on the inclined treadmill. He used to walk with 5kg of weights in a backpack before I found Rukvest and is going on 90 years of age! I hope this encourages others to try Ruking to build up their strength and stamina.
