Hear from our happy customers

A smiling woman outdoors in a park wearing black sunglasses, a pink shirt, and a black backpack with a green and white strap.
“Absolutely love it! Such a great design for women, as we don't need any more weight at our chest! I love that the weight is evenly distributed across the back and it's never in the way. From hikes, walks with friends, to everyday dog walks I've got it on.”
Cassie W.
A woman wearing a black weighted vest and black shorts, taking a selfie outdoors on a paved path. The vest has a small green and white logo on the shoulder strap.
“Great 5kg addition to my daily walk. It is extremely comfortable to wear, much better than I expected. I am 55 with knees that are not up for running anymore but this has been a great way to raise the heart rate just walking.”
Cindy D.
“I thought I would fatigue using a weighted vest for the first time but this is just comfortable, easy to get on and off and not bulky or ugly. Great vest for women.”
Alison L.

Trusted by experts

“I already train resistance consistently but wanted a challenge when it came to my walks. I'm also a Sports Dietitian working with perimenopause women, and I needed something to refer them to as a value add alongside professional nutrition care.

I have been so impressed with the comfort and feel of the RUKVEST. The 8kg has definitely added a challenge to my regular walks and my clients are loving it too!”

Why weight-bearing exercise matters after 40

As oestrogen falls through perimenopause, women tend to lose muscle and bone faster. That is why health guidance for midlife women consistently recommends two things:

  • Regular weight-bearing exercise, like brisk walking
  • Resistance exercise that gets harder over time

Walking in RUKVEST is a simple way to do both at once, on a walk you were going to take anyway.

This information is general and educational. RUKVEST is fitness equipment, not a medical treatment, and has not been clinically studied as a treatment for any condition. Talk to your GP or physiotherapist about the right exercise for you, especially if you have osteoporosis or osteopenia.

Make every walk count

Get more out of the walk you already take

You don't need to find an extra hour, join a gym or learn a new routine. You just need your usual walk to ask a little more of you.

Adding load means your legs, glutes, core and upper back work harder with every step, and the same walk uses more energy. Many customers tell us they notice they stand taller too.*

And because RUKVEST is comfortable, you will actually keep wearing it, which is where real progress comes from.

The weighted gel difference

Why weighted gel beats loose sand

Many weighted vests are filled with loose sand or iron pellets in pockets. The weight can shift, sag and press into you, and loose fillings can wear through the fabric over time.

RUKVEST works differently. Iron sand is suspended in gel to form the core of the vest itself, so the weight moulds to your body and stays evenly spread front and back.

The result is a vest that feels balanced, sits close and lasts, so it is comfortable enough for everyday wear.

How to use RUKVEST®

Add RUKVEST to the walking you already do and build strength one step at a time.

  1. Step 01

Choose your weight. Start with 5 to 10% of your body weight. If in doubt, go lighter.

  2. Step 02

Adjust at the sides and across the front so it sits snug and feels balanced.

  3. Step 03

Walk. Start with 20 minutes, 3 to 4 times a week, then add time, hills or stairs as you get stronger.

Enjoy the results

Steady, sustainable progress

Strength builds gradually. Most women find their first few weighted walks feel noticeably harder, then easier as their body adapts. That is your cue to walk further, add a hill or step up a weight.

Because RUKVEST fits into your day rather than taking it over, it is easy to keep going week after week. Pair it with regular strength work, good sleep and enough protein for the best results.*

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a weighted vest safe during perimenopause?

For most women, yes, when you start light and build up gradually. Keep the load at 5 to 10% of your body weight, wear it snug, and stop if you feel pain. If you have osteoporosis, osteopenia, pelvic floor symptoms, or back or joint issues, talk to your GP or physio before you start.

How heavy should I go?

If you have been inactive, start around 5% of your body weight. If you already exercise, around 10%. For a 70kg woman that is roughly 3.5kg to 7kg. If in doubt, go lighter. You can make a light walk harder, but you can't make a heavy one easier.

Will a weighted vest help with perimenopause weight gain?

It can help as part of the bigger picture. Walking with extra load increases the energy your body uses on that walk and makes your muscles work harder. Results depend on consistency, nutrition, sleep and your individual health, so pair it with sensible eating and regular strength work.

Can RUKVEST help with bone health?

Weight-bearing and resistance exercise are both recommended for bone health, and walking with added load is one simple way to include them. RUKVEST is fitness equipment, not a treatment. If you have osteopenia or osteoporosis, talk to your GP or physio about the right load and exercise for you.

How do I choose the right size?

RUKVEST is chosen by weight rather than clothing size. The 3kg, 5kg and 8kg vests have a single strap design, and the 11kg has a double strap design with a slightly larger fit. All are adjustable at the sides and across the front.

Can I add more weight later?

RUKVEST is a fixed-weight vest, so you can't add weight to it. You can make your walks harder with hills, stairs and longer distances, and when you are ready for a heavier vest, you can trade yours in for $80 credit through our trade-up program.

How do I clean it?

Give it a 5 to 10 minute soak in a tub with mild detergent, then dry it flat or over a balustrade, as it is heavier when wet. For a quick refresh, antibacterial wipes work well. Make sure it is fully dry before you pack it away.

How much is shipping and how fast is it?

Shipping is based on weight: $15 for 1 to 4kg, $25 for 5 to 10kg and $35 for 11 to 20kg. Orders ship from our Castle Hill NSW, Cheltenham VIC or Malaga WA warehouses, usually within 1 to 2 business days, and most arrive 2 to 5 days after ordering.

What does 60 day returns mean?

You have 60 days from purchase to decide if RUKVEST is right for you. If it isn't, you can return it. See our refund policy for the full conditions.
